Sitting on a 113 acre parcel in the Litchfield Hills of Connecticut, Winvian Farm has been owned by the Smith Family for the past fifty years. The farm stood vacant until last spring when construction began on the twenty-one cottages which make up a significant part of this country retreat. Similar to it's sister property, The Pitcher Inn in Vermont, these cottages, designed by many architects, represents different pieces of Connecticut's history and culture.

The approach to the Library Cottage takes guests down a wooded path, offering a glimpse of the cottage's quaintness, the screened porch entrance.

The interior charm of the cottage centers around the great room where a large stone fireplace rises up into the library loft. Natural light floods the the cottage from the skylight in the cathedral ceiling above.
